Joyce O’Beirne is a fully qualified True Pilates Instructor, trained and certified by Romana Kryzanowska, the internationally recognised protégée of Joseph Pilates and his officially designated successor. After nine years at the Paris Pilates Studio, where her clients included professional dancers, stage and circus performers, cinema artists and top athletes, Ms O’Beirne now operates a fully equipped Pilates studio at Terryland Retail Park, Galway.

History of Plates:

Having suffered from poor health as a child, Joseph Pilates dedicated his life to body conditioning, believing that physical fitness is the first prerequisite to happiness”. Over years of research and observation, he developed more than 500 exercises that combine the Eastern tradition of calm, centred movement focused on flexibility, and the Western approach that emphasises muscle tone and strength.

Developed over the last eighty years, Pilates is a complete exercise system that gives long-lasting, and often spectacular results. The method is designed to build core strength and correct body alignment while developing all the muscle groups in a harmonious manner, promoting fluid, graceful and controlled movement.
